Heaven Scent

I have always had a slight hesitation when it comes to candles...I didn't appreciate what a special scent can do to improve mood and relaxation. I've always been hopeless remembering to actually use them and have been nervous of the whole cause a fire thing (think latest tragedy in Queensland scenario - exactly what I've always feared).

Despite this, I have been given a couple of candles recently as gifts and seeing as I've been on holidays and had time up my sleeve, I thought I'd light a couple. I am in love. Just having a faint hint of subtle sweet vanilla is enough to make me an addict. Here are the culprits...

And the more summery aroma of lime splice.

So, just wondering, who else indulges in burning beautifully scented candles? Often, or only during a relaxing dip in the bath? I already used them all the time when sitting outdoors in the evening, but the indoors-just for the sake of it thing is new. Once I'm back at work I'll probably not have time to scratch my nose again let alone light a candle - which is crazy, as that is exactly when I need a scent to relax me and calm down after a big day!

Cheers
Kylie

  1. I light a candle or two every night. I can't stand the overly floral ones. In summer I like lighter fruity ones, in winter pumpkin or spicy varieties. Vanilla or creme brulee are good all year round.

Be warned! It can become very addictive and expensive.

  2. Ooh I love a good candle! I'm loving the sound of your lime spice one!

My favourite are Glasshouse, they are divine, and nice and strong, no mucking around with ones you can barely smell. LOL. My favourites are their Frangipani, Gardenia and they have one that smells like warm caramel vanilla muffins..mmmm...

  3. I'm with you re the 'chicken' bit! I once lit them all the time but had a couple of 'scares' that have made me much more wary. Once my timber framed (the design is still for sale...?!)oil burner caught alight in the kitchen and another time I woke one morning to find a candle still burning (that I swear I extinguished) and leaning towards the drapes in the lounge. Millimetres away. My daughters were 6 and eight and I was a single mum. Scary big wake-up call! I now use them only for a bath or entertaining with hubby in-the-double-check know before retiring.

    1. Very scary! I have only been buying the ones in jars for inside at the moment - they seem safer. Hope that isn't giving me a false sense of security.

  5. Another recommendation of the 'Glasshouse' brand. May have to go searching tomorrow! Layered fragrances too - sounds interesting!
