Tinsel?

Please answer a question for me...is tinsel too tacky for a stylish Christmas setting?

I have in mind to put it along the top of the glass pool fence, just for a little festive touch. But will it look tacky? Or be a nice bit of colour for the kids?

My Christmas table will be a work in progress on the day. I showed you the 2 bowls of lights and ornaments last post, plus I have ordered a long, low, all white flower arrangement for the table too. Hopefully it won't look too much. I plan to add and take away as needed on the day really, and hope it all comes together fine. Wish me luck!

I am also making little treat boxes - one for each guest. All of the bits n pieces at the craft and scrapbook shop add up to a small fortune...but who needs landscaping for their front yard right!! Will let you know how they turn out. I have some baking ahead of me for them as well.

I am enjoying the start of my holidays. Yesterday I rushed around like a mad women finishing off my shopping. A number of times I felt very emotional - seemingly for no reason. I think it was just the sheer relief of making it to the end of an extremely challenging work year.

I am not looking forward to tackling the grocery shop for Christmas lunch - no matter how early I go, it is always jam packed! Fingers crossed I get out of there all in one piece and with everything I need.

Cheers
Kylie

  1. I think the tinsel would be okay - it's for the kids after all! The other option would be to drape some beads along the top of the fence...

Good luck with the groceries. I'm going this afternoon and taking Husband along for moral support! Will have to go back on Saturday, but I think he might just look after that visit!

Merry Christmas, if I don't 'see' you again. Enjoy that gorgeous new house of yours, can't wait to see the photos of the decorated table.

Kids love it so go for it. We put it all over our trees in the front yard.

  3. Thanks girls...tinsel it is. Maybe I will leave the completely 'stylish' options for when the kids are a bit older!

  4. I'm not a fan of tinsel but have been in the past. It is the fastest, easiest and possibly most cost effective festive decor (great bang for buck?) you can put up & the children do love it! I'll tackle the food shop tomorrow with hubby after visiting my Dad in Sydney for his birthday. I'll probably be back out of the shop with a trolly load before he finds a park! Your table sounds like it's going to be spectacular! Hope you make the first of many happy and wonderful memories in your new home!
